Slide 3
Plant and Animal cells have many things in common:
 Plasma membrane
 Nucleus
 Nucleolus
 Rough ER
 Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER)
Peroxisomes
  Ribosomes
  Golgi Apparatus
 Vacuoles
  Lysosomes
 Mitochondria
 Centrosomes
And some things not
Centrioles
many small vacuoles
Chloroplasts
Non chloroplast plastids
Cell wall
Central vacuole
Slide 6
The Plasma Membrane is a bilayer of phospholipids and associated embedded proteins that surrounds the cell.
It provides a functional separation between the inside of the cell and its external environment. Embedded proteins allow selective transport of molecules into and out of the cell and they allow for cell – cell recognition.
Slide 9
Surrounded and enclosed by the Nuclear envelope, the nucleus houses the chromatin, nucleoplasm  and nucleoli.
The Nucleus serves both as the home of genetic information and as the cell’s control center where DNA replication, transcription, and RNA processing all take place.
